There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.

A large group of students are gathered outdoors, with several participants covered in traditional ochre and black paint as part of a NAIDOC Week celebration. The event includes cultural activities such as holding a boomerang, emphasizing Aboriginal heritage, culture, and community at the school.

NAIDOC Week Celebrations

Term 2 concluded with a special NAIDOC Week assembly and activities. Students participated in Aboriginal dance performances, language learning, storytelling, bead-making, indigenous games, and a smoking ceremony. The event showcased respect, leadership, and sportsmanship, involving staff, students, parents, and special guests.

Students in maroon uniforms are participating in a Science & Engineering Challenge inside a gymnasium. They are engaged in hands-on STEM activities such as building and testing structures, working collaboratively to solve engineering problems, and using interactive boards with guidance from presenters. The atmosphere is active and focused on teamwork and practical learning.

Stage 3 students took part in the Yancoal Upper Hunter Science and Engineering Discovery Day, presented by the University of Newcastle. They tackled hands-on STEM activities, built bridges, and demonstrated critical thinking and teamwork, with MSPS students earning recognition for their engineering success

Kindergarten students are celebrating 100 days of school, wearing creative crowns and themed outfits, drawing pictures, and enjoying special snacks together as part of the festivities.

Kindergarten celebrated their “100 days of Kindergarten” milestone. Students made crowns, portraits of themselves at 100 years old, fairy bread, and craft projects featuring “100 items” (such as cupcake sprinkles, monster eyes, gumballs, stars, and hearts). There are photos of students with their crowns, group photos, and craft activities alongside the article.

Hunter Schools Dance Festival

The MSPS 3-6 Dance group performed at the Hunter Schools Dance Festival in Newcastle. Supported by the P&C (which purchased their costumes), the students delivered an amazing performance, deepening their engagement with dance and celebrating the arts.

GRIP Leadership Excursion

Year 6 student leaders attended the GRIP Leadership Conference in Newcastle. The training focused on leadership responsibilities, friendship, innovative ideas, and achieving personal goals. Students participated in interactive sessions and volunteered on stage, gaining valuable leadership experience to help them positively impact the school community.

Annual Swimming Carnival

Muswellbrook South Public School’s Annual Swimming Carnival, held early in Term 1, is a fun and competitive event that highlights students' swimming skills across all ages. This year’s carnival was a great success, with strong participation and enthusiastic support from spectators. Special thanks to Muswellbrook Swimming Club for their support and to our staff for organizing the event. Achievement ribbons are presented at school assemblies to celebrate students’ dedication and sportsmanship. The carnival promotes physical activity and fosters a sense of community and school spirit.
